01 · Municipal & Police Litigation
Municipal & Police Litigation
Police litigation is a specialized area of law with many procedural rules, specialized documents, technical knowledge areas, and high emotions. Our attorneys have the deep practical experience to get to the core of your police matter and act as your best advocate.
Nathan & Kamionski LLP represents large municipalities and law enforcement agencies nationwide in complex civil rights litigation. Our attorneys include former prosecutors, corporation counsels, and police academy instructors who understand both the law and the operational realities our clients face.
We handle cases from intake through trial — including motions to dismiss, discovery, summary judgment, and jury verdicts. We provide timely case assessments, reserve recommendations, and billing that follows our clients' guidelines on every file.
Our attorneys are experienced in the full spectrum of Section 1983 claims, including Monell liability, qualified immunity, and cases involving high-profile incidents. We have successfully defended reversed conviction cases, police-involved fatalities, and systemic pattern-or-practice claims.
02 · Employment Litigation
Employment Litigation
Lawsuits by disgruntled employees are often unavoidable. At Nathan & Kamionski LLP we are fully prepared to litigate these disputes, but we also consult with our clients on training to minimize litigation exposure.
Our experience includes claims of wrongful termination, claims for race, national origin, gender, pregnancy, age and disability discrimination, and claims pursuant to the Fair Labor Standards Act and Family and Medical Leave Act.
We advise clients regarding company policies, procedure manuals, employee handbooks, record keeping, hiring practices, and all other facets of compliance with state and federal employment, discrimination, and wage and hour laws. Our goal is to keep our clients out of court — but when litigation is unavoidable, we are ready to win.
03 · Commercial Litigation
Commercial Litigation
Our attorneys are here to guide your organization and its directors through the disputes that arise during the course of your business — whether you face a multi-million dollar contract dispute or need strategic legal advice.
We quickly diagnose your matter and apply the appropriate fix to allow your organization to focus on what it does best. This approach often results in substantial financial savings for our commercial clients — because we identify dispositive issues early and don't overbill on tactics that don't move the needle.
Our commercial litigators have represented both plaintiffs and defendants — individuals and businesses — in a wide array of commercial disputes in state and federal courts across the country.
04 · Pre-Litigation Investigation
Pre-Litigation Investigation
Sometimes the best defense is a good offense. Nathan & Kamionski LLP's extensive litigation experience enables its attorneys to thoroughly analyze potential cases before they are even filed.
As trial lawyers, we know the key issues that arise in cases and the critical evidence necessary to mount a solid defense. Once a lawsuit is already filed, defense lawyers are generally at a disadvantage because plaintiff's counsel already knows the case very well and has usually been in contact with all the key witnesses.
At its core, the pre-suit investigation will help the defense develop a persuasive theory of the case that will drive discovery once the lawsuit is pending. Early assessment of trial theories will put the defense in a better position to test how the story fits with the developing record. It will inform defense counsel's initial disclosures, guide written discovery requests and deposition questioning, and provide insight regarding expert witnesses. This type of case assessment and plan is perhaps the best money spent in litigation.
05 · Nursing Home Liability
Nursing Home Liability
Lawsuits against nursing homes are on the rise and present increasing costs and risks to skilled nursing facilities. As trial attorneys, we know how to investigate and assess a claim and respond accordingly.
We represent skilled nursing facility companies, operators, and owners in defense of civil claims — from individual negligence suits to multi-plaintiff matters. Our attorneys include practitioners who serve as general counsel to SNF operators and understand the regulatory environment as well as the litigation landscape.
We also provide pre-litigation support, helping facility operators identify and address risk before suits are filed, and advising on vendor contracts, staffing issues, and documentation practices that minimize exposure.
06 · Corporate Transactions
Corporate Transactions
We know what a deal looks like when it goes wrong — and our attorneys are available to help you avoid future disputes by addressing common problems before they occur.
Our attorneys are available to help entrepreneurs get their businesses running smoothly and are ready to advise on matters such as operating agreements, buy-sell agreements, asset purchase agreements, and the like. We also stand ready to help guide your business through the process of business financing.
Because our attorneys also litigate commercial disputes, we bring a unique perspective to transactional work — we have seen how these agreements fail in court, and we draft accordingly.
